Tess Jones

Tess Jones is pursuing the Doctor of Music degree in Wind Conducting and serves as an Associate Instructor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. A native of Abilene, TX, Tess received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from Texas State University. She served as the Director of Bands at Craig Middle School in Abilene, TX, Assistant Director of Bands at Waltrip High School in Houston, TX, and Director of Bands at Levi Fry Intermediate School in Texas City, TX. In addition to her studies, Tess works as a staff member for the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy in the summers. Tess is an alumnus of Mu Phi Epsilon and Kappa Kappa Psi, and holds membership with the Texas Music Educators Association, the College Band Directors National Association, and the National Flute Association.

 

 

March 9, 2024 - Smoky Row Elementary

Andrew Himelick

Andrew Himelick teaches elementary music in Carmel and is an assistant choir director with the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. He is a specialist in both Kodály and Orff. He has been a presenter at state and national music education workshops and conventions. He is a Teacher Trainer with FAME in both First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege. In 2006 he was awarded the Armstrong Teacher Award from Indiana University and in 2021 he was awarded the Indiana Music Education Association Outstanding Elementary Educator.

 

 Penny Dimmick

Dr. Penny Dimmick, Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Music Education program at Butler University also serves as the Associate Director in the School of Music. She is a frequent clinician at music conferences and has recently conducted the  All-State Honor Children’s Choirs in Nebraska and Indiana.  She serves on the Board of Directors of IMEA and on the National Collegiate Advisory Board of NAfME. 

When she is not teaching, she enjoys traveling, hiking, time at the beach, and attending professional baseball games with her husband John, and her two grown sons John and Joshua.
